Education

In addition to university-level classroom teaching, I am passionate about pursuing possibilities for generative, creative K-12 curricula that incorporate archival materials, oral histories, and other primary sources from public humanities projects, particularly in alignment with diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals.

Educator Hub

As a graduate assistant for the Queer Newark Oral History Project, I developed the Educator Hub, a central location for curriculum materials for educators who want to teach their students about LGBTQ+ history in Newark, New Jersey and create a queer-inclusive classroom. I wrote lesson plans for social studies, computer science and design thinking, and visual and performing arts that meet state and Common Core area standards and the New Jersey state requirement to teach LGBTQ+ history and designed additional resources, such as conversation starters and guidelines for respectful classroom discussions about gender and sexuality.

Teaching Against Erasure

After staffing the annual conference sponsored by the Rutgers Teaching Against Erasure initiative, I responded to needs expressed by educators by designing lesson plans, lists of suggested activities, and potential curriculum changes to better cover the histories and lives of queer and disabled people in the United States, fulfilling New Jersey's state requirement to teach these histories and in alignment with both state and Common Core standards.
