Archives
I’ve loved archives since my first research trip as an M.A. student, and I am always excited to work behind the scenes in these spaces to process exciting new collections, particularly from marginalized communities, and bring existing collections to new audiences and increase their accessibility through digitization projects.
Museum of Transology Community Archives
While completing my M.A. in London, I volunteered at Museum of Transology community archive nights at the Bishopsgate Institute, working to catalog and properly store objects donated by the trans community across the United Kingdom. Once back in the United States, I remained involved by helping transfer information from the physical records and photographs of artifacts into the Digital Collections site.
Montclair Ambulance Unit Digital Collection
As a special collections intern for the Montclair History Center, I worked to preserve the archival collection of the Montclair Ambulance Unit, organizing hundreds of photos, documents, and objects, digitizing the collection using differnet scanning tools, creating metadata, and uploading to the public-facing LUNAImaging platform. I also wrote, designed, and delivered a presentation about the MAU for the center's History at Home series.
Weaver Family Collection
I worked as an archival consultant to process the massive amount of documents, objects, and photographs from the storied life and career of Dr. Roosevelt Weaver. Dr. Weaver participated in one of the first classes of Peace Corps volunteers, worked as a public school educator, and was known as a talented athlete. Working in consistent communication with Weaver family, I organized the materials into thematic collections, recommended purchases of archival storage materials, and rehoused the materials into proper storage in its collections. Lastly, I wrote an accessible finding aid for the Weaver family to understand the scope of the collection and easily locate materials.
